UNESCO world heritage sites: San Gimignano, Val d’Orcia (visit La Foce), Pienza, Pisa’s Piazza dei Miracoli, Medici Villas and gardens as well as Florence, Siena, and Assisi.
Others with significant histories and attractions: Abbey of San Galgano (see the sword in the stone), Gubbio (a steep hill town, good for a hike up Mount Ingino to the Basilica of St. Ubaldo, the patron saint of Gubbio), Deruta (ceramics), various thermal baths, cemeteries, Lake Trasimeno with its Maggiore Island and Etruscan/Roman histories.
